Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Step 2: In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Step 3: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 4: Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed in the batter.
- Step 5: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Step 6: Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
- Step 7: Fry the fritters for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Step 8: Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Step 9: Dust the warm fritters with powdered sugar if desired, and serve immediately.
