Banoffee Pie is a delightful combination of buttery crust, rich caramel, fresh bananas, and fluffy whipped cream, topped with dark chocolate shavings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 3 bananas, sliced
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate, grated
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: Combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a bowl, then press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish to form a crust.
- Step 3: Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
- Step 4: Place the unopened can of sweetened condensed milk in a pot of boiling water, making sure the can is fully submerged, and simmer for 2 hours to make a caramel-like dulce de leche.
- Step 5: Carefully open the can and spread the dulce de leche evenly over the cooled crust.
- Step 6: Arrange the banana slices over the dulce de leche layer.
- Step 7: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Step 8: Spread the whipped cream over the bananas and smooth the top.
- Step 9: Sprinkle the grated dark chocolate over the whipped cream as a garnish.
- Step 10: Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
