BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar over medium heat.
  2. Step 2: Stir in the honey, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using.
  4. Step 4: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Step 5: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors meld.
  6. Step 6: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the BBQ sauce cool to room temperature.
  7. Step 7: Transfer the sauce to a clean jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before using to allow the flavors to develop further.
