This hearty beef and macaroni casserole is a comforting and cheesy classic perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion is translucent.
- Step 3: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
- Step 4: Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Step 5: Combine the cooked macaroni, beef mixture, and thawed peas and carrots in a large mixing bowl, and mix well.
- Step 6: Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Step 7: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 9: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
