Cincinnati Chili is a unique and flavorful dish featuring spiced ground beef served over spaghetti, topped with beans, cheese, and onions.

Cincinnati Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound spaghetti, cooked and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, chopped (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until the onion is translucent.
  2. Step 2: Add the ground beef to the pot, cooking and stirring until the beef is browned and crumbled.
  3. Step 3: Stir in the beef broth, tomato sauce, chili powder, cinnamon, cumin, cocoa powder, allspice, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Step 4: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Step 5: Mix in the apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce, and let it simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Serve the chili over cooked spaghetti, and top with kidney beans, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped onion.
