Ingredients
- 1 pre-made tart shell (9-inch)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup pastry cream (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup mixed fresh fruit (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and raspberries)
- 1/4 cup apricot jam (optional, for glazing)
- 1 tablespoon water (optional, for glazing)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
- Step 3: Add the egg yolk and milk to the mixture and stir until the dough comes together.
- Step 4: Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.
- Step 5: Bake the tart shell for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
- Step 6: Once the tart shell is cool, spread the pastry cream evenly over the bottom of the shell.
- Step 7: Arrange the mixed fresh fruit on top of the pastry cream in a decorative pattern.
- Step 8: If using, heat the apricot jam and water in a small saucepan over low heat until melted. Brush the glaze over the fruit for a shiny finish.
- Step 9: Refrigerate the fruit tart for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
