Ingredients
- 1 lb gnocchi
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the gnocchi according to package instructions until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.
- Step 3: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
- Step 4: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Step 5: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Step 6: Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet and gently stir to coat them in the Bolognese sauce.
- Step 7: Transfer the gnocchi and sauce mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
- Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 9: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Step 10: Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving for a burst of color and flavor.
