Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup sliced fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Step 2: Add the olive oil, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Step 4: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Step 5: Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- Step 6: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to a 12-inch circle.
- Step 7: Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper, spread the tomato sauce over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Step 8: Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the sauce, then add the pepperoni slices.
- Step 9: Sprinkle the oregano and garlic powder over the top and carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated baking stone or sheet using the parchment paper.
- Step 10: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly, then garnish with fresh basil before serving.
