Tender and flavorful Italian meatballs simmered in a rich marinara sauce, perfect for any pasta night.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, milk, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
- Step 2: Mix the ingredients gently with your hands until just combined; do not overmix.
- Step 3: Shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place them on a tray.
- Step 4: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Step 5: Add the meatballs to the skillet in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes per batch.
- Step 6: Transfer the browned meatballs to a plate and pour marinara sauce into the same skillet.
- Step 7: Bring the sauce to a simmer, then return the meatballs to the skillet.
- Step 8: Cover and cook the meatballs in the sauce for about 20 minutes, until cooked through.
- Step 9: Serve the meatballs hot with the sauce over pasta or alongside crusty bread.
