Korean Beef Bulgogi

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 carrot, julienned

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.
  2. Step 2: Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  3. Step 3: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Step 4: Add the marinated beef slices to the pan, spreading them out to cook evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  5. Step 5: Add the sliced onion and julienned carrot to the pan, stir-frying with the beef for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Step 6: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  7. Step 7: Serve hot with steamed rice or lettuce leaves for wrapping.
