- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup gochujang
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Step 1: Insert a wooden skewer into each hot dog, leaving enough skewer exposed to serve as a handle.
- Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.
- Step 4: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth to create the batter.
- Step 5: Pour panko breadcrumbs into a shallow dish.
- Step 6: Dip each skewered hot dog into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.
- Step 7: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Step 8: Place the corn dogs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch each other.
- Step 9: Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through the cooking time.
- Step 10: For the sauce, mix gochujang, mayonnaise, honey, and soy sauce in a small bowl until well combined.
- Step 11: Serve the hot corn dogs with the spicy gochujang sauce on the side for dipping.
