Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Step 3: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Step 4: Add the marinara sauce to the skillet with the beef and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  6. Step 6: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  7. Step 7: Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  8. Step 8: Top with a third of the mozzarella cheese and a third of the meat sauce.
  9. Step 9: Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce, until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of noodles topped with the remaining meat sauce.
  10. Step 10: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  11. Step 11: Cover the dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, spray the foil with cooking spray).
  12. Step 12: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  13. Step 13: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  14. Step 14: Let the lasagna cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
  15. Step 15: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve.
