Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced peaches and 1/2 cup of sugar.
  3. Step 3: Cook the peaches for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the peaches release some juice.
  4. Step 4: Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt while you prepare the batter.
  5. Step 5: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Step 6: Add the milk and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  7. Step 7: Remove the hot baking dish with melted butter from the oven and pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  8. Step 8: Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter, but do not stir. Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the top.
  9. Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter has risen up around the peaches.
  10. Step 10: Let the cobbler cool for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the juices to settle.
