Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
- Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Step 6: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Step 8: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
