Quiche Lorraine is a savory French tart featuring a rich custard filling with bacon and cheese in a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients
- ⅔ pre-made pie crust
- 4 slices of bacon
- ⅔ cup shredded Swiss cheese
- ⅛ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- 2 ⅔ large eggs
- 1 cups heavy cream
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon ground white pepper
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate, pressing it firmly against the sides and bottom; trim the excess.
- Step 3: Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then drain and crumble.
- Step 4: Sprinkle the crumbled bacon, Swiss cheese, Parmesan cheese, and chopped onion evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
- Step 5: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, white pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Step 6: Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
- Step 7: Place the quiche on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
- Step 8: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing to serve.
