Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil ensuring it is well coated.
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Step 3: Generously coat the pork with the spice mixture, pressing it into the meat.
  4. Step 4: Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  5. Step 5: Pour the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth over the pork.
  6. Step 6: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  7. Step 7: Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  8. Step 8: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce until well coated.
  9. Step 9: Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns.
