Tender and flavorful slow-cooked pulled pork perfect for sandwiches or a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 4 pounds boneless pork shoulder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 8 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Step 1: Rub the pork shoulder with olive oil ensuring it is well coated.
- Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Step 3: Generously coat the pork with the spice mixture, pressing it into the meat.
- Step 4: Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
- Step 5: Pour the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth over the pork.
- Step 6: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
- Step 7: Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Step 8: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce until well coated.
- Step 9: Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns.
