A hearty and flavorful classic Italian pasta dish with a rich, meaty sauce.

Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 400g spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until soft.
  2. Step 2: Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  3. Step 3: Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until reduced by half.
  4. Step 4: Stir in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Step 5: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Step 6: While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  7. Step 7: Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce, tossing well to coat.
  8. Step 8: Serve the spaghetti Bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
