A hearty and flavorful classic Italian pasta dish with a rich, meaty sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 400g spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat and sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until soft.
- Step 2: Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Step 3: Pour in the red wine and let it simmer until reduced by half.
- Step 4: Stir in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Step 5: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Step 6: While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Step 7: Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce, tossing well to coat.
- Step 8: Serve the spaghetti Bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
