Spare Ribs

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of pork spare ribs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Step 3: Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  4. Step 4: Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil and cover tightly with another piece of foil.
  5. Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
  6. Step 6: Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and olive oil.
  7. Step 7: Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  8. Step 8: Remove the ribs from the oven, discard the top foil, and brush generously with the prepared barbecue sauce.
  9. Step 9: Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 15 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
  10. Step 10: Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
