This Steak Quesadilla is a deliciously simple dish packed with savory steak, melted cheese, and sautéed vegetables, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Sour cream, for serving
- Salsa, for serving
Instructions
- Step 1: Season the flank steak with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
- Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for about 5-6 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached.
- Step 3: Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.
- Step 4: In the same skillet, add diced red onion and bell pepper, cooking until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Step 5: In another large skillet, melt 1/2 tablespoon of butter over medium heat and place one tortilla in the skillet.
- Step 6: On half of the tortilla, layer a portion of the sliced steak, sautéed vegetables, and a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.
- Step 7: Fold the tortilla over and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is golden brown.
- Step 8: Repeat with the remaining tortillas, adding butter to the skillet as needed.
- Step 9: Cut each quesadilla into wedges and serve with sour cream and salsa.
